Community Investment Program
The deadline to submit applications for the Community Investment Program’s community grants has been extended to June 5, 2026 at 5pm EDT. Only applicants requesting portal access by Friday, May 22nd will be eligible for the extension.
Amtrak is proud to introduce its first Community Investment Program (CIP).
Amtrak has committed to an overall CIP budget of $50 million which will be invested incrementally over the duration of the Program. Investments will be made through community grants and direct investments, with projects covering six categories:
- Community Development
- Workforce Development
- Parks and Recreation
- Open Space
- Transportation
- Historic Preservation

Amtrak will annually issue a formal Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) which will allow eligible organizations to apply for community grant and direct investment awards for projects in West Baltimore that meet the eligibility requirements. Amtrak will also host applicant information sessions after the application window opens.

What’s Next?
Update as of May 20, 2026: Amtrak has extended the deadline to submit CIP community grant applications to Friday, June 5, 2026 at 5pm EDT. To submit by the new deadline, you must complete the registration process for the Amtrak Grants Portal by Friday, May 22 (see Grant Portal Registration Video above for instructions). Only approved portal registrations will be eligible for the new application submission date.

CIP Eligibility Map
Type an address into the “search” bar in the map above. The location of the blue map marker will show if it falls within the Program boundaries. Projects eligible for community grant funding must serve the communities impacted by the Program and be located within one-quarter (1/4) mile of the Program alignment (pink boundary), except for transportation improvement projects which must be located within one-half (1/2) mile of Program alignment (blue boundary).
